We, Tim & Marnie took over the farm from Tim's parents, Marshall and Jenny in Spring 2000. We
run it as a traditional Dairy farm, milking over 125 cows, producing top quality milk that is sold to Joseph Heler,
Cheesemaker.
We have always kept a few pigs for ourselves and decided to keep a few more and sell them to
friends and family. This has grown into a group of outdoor reared traditional breed pigs. We buy the pigs locally as they
are weaned from their mothers and keep them in a large family group. They have an indoors straw yard to lie in and a large
field for exercise.
During a family holiday in Western Canada in 2004 we became aware of the potential of meat
goats as an alternative healthy red meat. Following some market research we took on and reared some dairy billy kids.
We have progressed and now have a large breeding herd of Boer Goats producing meat that is healthier than chicken and
very tasty! Goats are clever, inquisitive animals and are a joy to work with.
We have a few Hereford and Simmental beef cattle, which we rear alongside our dairy cattle.
We like to have good quality animals which we kill when they are under 2 years old and at their most succulent! The meat
is hung for at least three weeks to tenderise it and is simply delicious!
We were awarded the 2007 Food Oscar for Cheshire and Marnie has just been given the Reaseheath
Award, which recognises the success of local rural women.
